Megan has a great team of mural painters to help her create amazing commissioned mural projects, on budget and on time, every time.
Based in Atlanta, GA, Megan McKeithan, contemporary artist and founder of Visionary Mural Company, creates exceptional mixed media paintings, as well as fine art murals and commissions. Drawing on her extensive experience of more than 22 years, with works in 61 cities around the country, Megan creates unique works of art that are perfect for her collectors and their architectural spaces.
Megan grew up in North Carolina and graduated as a Durant Scholar Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College, with additional honors in both Studio Art and Art History. While at Wellesley, she also studied architectural design at MIT and community mural painting at Savannah College of Art and Design, which led her to begin her career as a muralist. Over the years she managed more than 4,000 people to create large-scale mural projects and moved into private and commercial art commissions from there. She has also worked as a project manager in public murals and 2-D and 3-D museum exhibit design and fabrication, with works in national and state parks and several private museums, and taught painting and project management courses for teachers and students aged pre-school-101.
Megan’s most recent work includes a series of abstract mixed media paintings entitled Elemental. Inspired by moments she experiences on her walks in nature, Megan shares the world through her eyes in these pieces. She starts each work of art with a pattern, shape, texture, or light that struck her in a moment to experience and remember. Using materials evoking Earth elements like air, water, ether, fire, metal, and wood, she develops the piece, allowing her inner guidance to respond to that initial inspiration and evolve it into an abstract expression of the feeling or gestalt of that moment. Often a title for the work emerges during the process of creation, like a message from the source of that inspiration. After years of perfecting realism in her commissioned pieces, Megan has honed her ability to capture the essence of a moment in her art; this new work allows her to continue doing so using a more abstract visual language.
