Mixed Media on 3 canvases | 48" x 144" | $22,500
Reflecting on nature’s eternal ability to begin each day newly, Megan is inspired by the golden light of the world around her. She created this abstract painting on three canvases, inspired by the reflection she saw on one of her walks through wetlands.
Like other paintings in this series, Megan has used mixed media to create sculptural paintings; combining metallic and acrylic paints with gold leaf, textural media, and resin, she blurs the line between 2D and 3D art. And while it's is inspired by her observation of the wetlands landscape around her, it crosses the line from realism into abstract with the use of this technique.
Megan has created a visual language using building techniques she learned early in her career in a sculpture studio, along with finishing techniques she learned in years of creating decorative and faux finishes for her client's walls. Years of creating the illusion of space and depth in her landscape and sky murals also contributes to the elements of this painting.
The metallic gold leaf shimmers on the distant landscape across the water and in the grasses at the water's edge. The resin adds the reflective quality of water, while the metallic paints underneath give a sense of reflection and depth, depending on from where you are viewing this abstract painting.
