Mixed Media On Canvas | 48" x 96" | SOLD | Contact to commission similar
Megan created this abstract mixed media painting using metallic paints, inks, and resin with and bas relief texture. Forces of nature - fire and water - inspired this painting, as the two collide with each other to create something new. Both elements have the power to both create and destroy; a humbling and inspiring part of existence on this planet, and a theme which Megan has found in creating several of the sculptural abstract paintings in this series.
Megan doesn't often use colored resin in her mixed media paintings; this one is a departure for her. She built the left side of the piece as an experiment, adding layers upon layer of texture and color, then used metallic paints and alcohol inks in resin to create the dramatic effects in the right side of the piece. This process allowed for more of the abstract feeling of the painting to emerge. As is often the case with abstract work, the original inspiration gives way to the process and the product and speaks its own language to the viewer.
Gallery wrapped around the edges, this painting does not require framing. It has sold to a collector in Atlanta, making the perfect contemporary statement in the landing of his stairwell. If you'd like to commission a piece like this, or have your own idea for a contemporary mixed media painting, please contact Megan. She loves to create just the perfect piece for her clients and collectors.
