Inspired by her walks through the wetlands near her home, she included her impression of the reflection of the trees in this abstract painting, while capturing the wonder and depth of the wetlands with the metallic paints and deep sheen of resin. The highly textural leaves growing through the water in bas relief are represented in shining gold leaf.
Megan uses media she has explored over her long career creating murals, finishes, and 3D sculptures in her own unique way in this series of mixed media paintings to show the viewer the way she sees the world.
She is always thrilled once her pieces are installed in her client's spaces and they feel as if they have always been there. It's like a piece of art coming home. Her collectors first moved this piece to the Tai Chi loft in their home, then to her office.
One of the images she likes the most is the painting reflecting in the wooden counter top in front of it, with the adjacent windows reflecting light in the painting; the interplay of light and reflection is multiplying itself in a beautiful way.
After so many years of painting murals on walls and ceilings, Megan delights in creating sculptural abstract paintings like this; the large scale of 5' x 8' is small for a mural, but large enough to create the atmosphere people want in their homes and businesses.
