Mixed Media On Wood Panel | 48" x 48" | $12,500
Colors and shapes observed in a hike inspired this abstract painting. Megan was struck by the high contrast of light and dark and was inspired to create the illusion of depth and texture with metallic paints and resin.
While the inspiration for this piece was a snow covered river bank, with deep water running through and light glistening off the floor of the river, it also creates an interesting abstract shape in the middle - the negative space is as intriguing as its surroundings, as is often the case in nature.
Often collectors and clients see something different in Megan's contemporary abstract paintings than she does; it's one of the things Megan likes the most about creating. While she's honed her skill as a realist painter for years and years, she loves finding out what people respond to and see in this series of naturally-inspired pieces.
Pieces like It Comes to You are gallery wrapped, meaning the imagery continues around the sides of the painting with no need for framing. This painting is deeply cradled, meaning it's about 3.25" deep including the bas relief texture on the front of the piece.
It almost feels like a chunk of landscape was somehow cut from the Earth and turned into a piece of art; it blurs the line between 2D representation and 3D sculptural representation in a contemporary take on painting.
Megan creates commissioned abstract paintings to coordinate with the color scheme of your interior design, just like she has done with her murals and custom finishes since 1996. Contact her to purchase this piece or commission something from your experience or imagination.
