Mixed Media On Wood Panel | 48" x 48" | $12,500
A pattern observed in a walk through one of her favorite parks inspired this abstract painting. Megan enjoyed creating the illusion of depth with the metallic paints and resin and contrasting that with the highly textured white surrounding surface.
She has used all sorts of materials over her long art career to create murals, custom finishes, and museum exhibits. Now she uses metallic paints, resin, sand, glass, metal, acrylic, and many other materials to create these contemporary abstract paintings.
The texture and interest wrap around the deep sides of the painting in a gallery wrap style, requiring no framing and making a bold contemporary statement in any room. This painting measure about 2.75" deep, making it feel like maybe a chunk was cut from the Earth and turned into a painting on a wall.
One of the things Megan likes most about this series of contemporary abstract paintings she is creating is that the viewers don't have to know what she saw when she started the painting, they need to know what they see. The patterns she sees in nature are often the inspiration, like this one, but then the colors and finishes take over in the painting process, and something else entirely may come out of it.
Megan loves to find out what other people respond to in her artwork. The view point of this piece was originally at her eye's level, but once it was finished it seemed to feel like an aerial, or even ethereal view. Whatever you see in it is the meaning or message you get and that is the great thing about art.
