Blue Ridge Mountains at Sunset with flowering tree branches on canvas
Megan designed this mountain landscape view for her clients who love nature, and in particular, trees and flowers. The imaginary flowering branches are inspired by the beautiful work of Maxfield Parrish, whose work Megan has always loved. Her clients wanted a warm colorful sky with lots and lots of flowers in the branches in front of layers of blue ridge mountains so voila!
Megan painted this contemporary landscape mural on canvas in the studio then installed it in her clients' home. Later they built a new house and Megan was able to move the mural to the new location. They built a frame on the new wall, where she installed the mural and with a few touch ups around the edges where the original mural had been cut to wrap around the cabinet trim, the mural is good as new!
In fact, the new location from the mural is visible from either end of the angled hallway it adorns, and it can be seen from the open plan gallery adjacent to it and from the downstairs foyer. And without the swing which used to hang in front of it, this means the clients can enjoy it from many more spaces in their home and get the feeling of a huge picture window onto the peaceful scene.
Incidentally, she didn't count the flowers until after she painted them, which is a cunning survival plan for a mural artist; if you know there are more than 2,000 flowers to paint and they'll take at least 6, maybe 9 steps each, you might never start.
