Megan painted all the walls and ceiling as a mural inspired by DreamWorks Shrek movies. Favorite characters included in the mural are Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Dragon, Dronkeys, Lord Farquaad, Mother Goose, the Fairy Godmother, Three Blind Mice, Humpty Dumpty, and Gingy.
She left space for the crib and changing tables in the Shrek-themed nursery mural. Shrek and Donkey and Puss in Boots swing from the tree in the corner while Lord Farquaad looks on; Dragon sits on her hill with two of her Dronkeys flying around her, making for a great adventure room.
Not pictured here, Megan also painted matching shades to fill in the windows in the tree, and the purple drapes which were hung later to match the valances you see here.
Megan designed this custom mural to use the existing basecoat her clients had selected for the children's playroom; the yellow walls and trim provided a perfect warm background color to start the Shrek scene. Rather than go with a dark swamp background, they opted for a warm sunny atmospheric effect - one that adds movement and the illusion of space by lighting at the bottom and darkening at the top. Megan loves to place various characters on parts of the architecture too; Gingy the gingerbread man stands on the thermostat, while Humpty Dumpty can be found on the door frame.
